A/Prof Galambos delivers a keynote lecture at Faculty of Adult Psychiatry 2024 conference in Sydney
A/Prof Galambos was delighted to host the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) Faculty of Adult Psychiatry 2024 conference titled 'Breaking Down Silos: Finding Opportunities' in collaboration with the RANZCP Section of Private Practice Psychiatry (which he Chairs) and ADHD Network in Sydney between 16-18 August. Its ambition was to foster meaningful dialogue across specialities within our College, conduct an innovative approach to integration, and share insights about working towards a cohesive and patient-centred health care system.
A/Prof Galambos delivered the keynote presentation 'Research in Private Practice' where he spoke about the challenges of conducting research in the private sector and overlapping issues such as Outcome Measures, Clinical Indicators, Quality Improvement, Privacy and Managed care.
He drew on his experience establishing innovation and R&D programs at the early intervention young adult mental health unit where he serves as medical director, at Uspace St Vincent's Private Hospital in Sydney, from his advocacy work in preventing the intrusion of US-styled Managed Care models and approaches in Australia, and from his work in developing an online platform that enables the seamless access to outcome measures for the purposes of healthcare enhancement, quality improvement and which he hopes will facilitate healthcare providers resisting private health insurers from attempting to gain access personal sensitive healthcare information of their members by creating such high marketplace power that they force clinicians into contracts with them that require healthcare information to be handed over to them.
The other keynote speakers Dr Margaret Kay, Dr. Alexander YC Lim & Dr Roger Paterson were all very well-received.
